Be Where the People Are

A friend shared a link to this article from Detroit Catholic recently and all I could think of was this song from a beloved movie of my childhood:

“I wanna be where the people are…”

Really it’s just one line: “I wanna be where the people are!”

Now being Catholic has almost nothing in common with that of a hand-drawn mermaid … but this concept, “I wanna be where the people are” is the heart of evangelization.

The article concludes with this beautiful quote:

“There were seeds planted,” Ben Liedel said. “Hearts were kindled to discipleship and new ideas will arise from seeing this event happen. This event was the starting point.”

I love when people have creative, out of the box ideas for sharing the Gospel. We need to be where the people are, and that’s why we need to uplift and encourage our parishioners to share the faith in the places they are already!

Has your parish done anything interesting that you haven’t seen anyone else do that you think they should start doing?
